Sunday offers a brief reprieve from the chill of winter with a forecast high of around 50 degrees before the next bout of cold air hits the region on New Year's Eve.

Mustangs at College Pkwy, Airport Road in East Carson City

A pair of mustangs were grazing on a common grass area at the corner of East College Parkway and Airport Road Saturday afternoon as traffic whizzed by.

Motorists should watch for wild horses, which have been spotted with some frequency in Northeast Carson City of late, and slow down if they are in the area.

Law enforcement has been called out multiple times in recent days reference to mustangs at the busy intersection.

Carson City buck enjoys fruits of his labor

A large eight-point Mule buck plucked fruit off high branches of an apple tree Friday afternoon on W. Telegraph Street near Mountain and Elizabeth.

The buck raised himself up on his hind legs to reach fruit that was otherwise unreachable for his does and the younger Mule deer in his band.

And, together, the deer feasted.

Frigid flight above Carson City

A lone hot air balloon floated over Carson City Saturday morning, the pilot taking advantage of calm winds and sunny skies.

The air, though, was frigid and still well below freezing at about 9 a.m. Saturday morning as the balloon made its way across the Nevada state capital before finally descending in central Carson City.

Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Deputies serve warrant, book man for meth possession

A 27 year-old man wanted on an outstanding misdemeanor bench warrant was arrested Friday night at 7:45 p.m. in the 3900 block of South Carson Street on additional charges of felony methamphetamine possession, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with an attempted theft at Walmart, located in the Topsy Lane Shopping Center at 3770 U.S. Highway 395 South in Carson City.

A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies and Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives in the area of Clear Creek and Dat So La Lee on five counts of sexual assault on a victim under 14, six counts of using a minor under 14 for pornography, and one count of felony child abuse.

A 27-year-old Carson City woman and a 27-year-old Carson City man were arrested by the Carson City Special Enforcement Team in the 2800 block of Menlo Drive Thursday night on five felony charges for trafficking and selling meth and heroin.

Vehicle accident blocks traffic at Stewart and Robinson

Carson City Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a non-injury two-vehicle accident that occurred Friday morning just after 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of N. Stewart and E. Robinson streets.

The vehicles involved, however, are blocking parts of Robinson Street as well as the No. 1 travel lane of northbound Stewart.

Motorists in the area can expect traffic delays and should consider an alternate route.

UPDATE THURSDAY: KTVN Channel 2 reports Thursday morning that Raymond Patrick White, who was reported missing and endangered by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, was located Wednesday night at Lake Tahoe and is safe.
