Carson City Wine Walk

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Carson City Wine Walk was taken over by spooky patrons wandering downtown in their funky Halloween costumes.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region. The November Gobble Wine Walk kicks off in downtown Carson City followed by a new “Paths and Pedals” bike tour. Sierra Lutheran High School is also hosting a Christmas craft fair on Saturday. Combined with live music and virtual events, there’s plenty of activity happening in the state capital! Virginia City will be filled with spooky events over the month of October with its signature Hauntober event. This Saturday, Oct. 3, the Carson City Wine Walk will be returning to the capital city for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, with new safety rules in place to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

The downtown Carson City wine walk is back this Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online ONLY at www.ccwinewalk.brownpapertickets.com. TICKETS ARE LIMITED. Tickets must be purchased by noon on the day of the event. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD IN PERSON.

Stroll Downtown Carson City and enjoy wine poured from participating businesses. This is a perfect opportunity to experience everything the Downtown has to offer while participating businesses present special deals, entertainment and a variety of wines.

Even with the Phase 2 opening set to begin Friday, the Carson City Wine Walk will hold off on their monthly event until at least July.

The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Heading into the weekend it sure will seem like spring around the Carson City region and even up at Lake Tahoe, with ample sunshine and near record high temperatures. By Sunday though, that will change as a strong cold front brings much colder and windier conditions with a possible quick round of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

This book is one in their "WEIRD" series, with each volume filled with all sorts of trivia, fun facts, and fascinating information about our Capital town. La Nae states: "Over 260 pages of forgotten or lost history, present day information, and a surprise at the end."

Author of 19 books so far, La Nae and La Ferry will be offering a special price on their book, as well as 'Author-graphs.'

La Nae, author of 19 books, will be featuring her volume written about the historic building that Morley's Books is housed in, "Wells Fargo Office."

Other books Sandie will be selling of her historic volumes include Buckland Station, St. Charles Hotel, Genoa Bar, Alpine Hotel in Markleeville, and those from her "WEIRD" series about Carson City, Reno, and Virginia City.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform in the Expresso Yourself Café at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W King Street, Carson City, on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. The live music is part of the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, to be held that day from 1 to 5 p.m.

When the Carson City Downtown Business Association (DBA) says the monthly Wine Walk is held rain, snow or shine, it isn't kidding around.

Carson City's downtown business and historic districts were bustling Saturday with Wine Walk participants enjoying sights and sips, despite cool, wet weather that failed to dampen their spirits.

Not only is Friday the first day of March in this 2019 calendar year but it is also the end of the work week. Last Friday, I was enjoying Open Mic Night at A to Zen and sipping on a cup of tea, when my heart and mind was captured by a ukulele and the voice of Carson City newcomer Kelsey Kelly.
