Registration begins for Carson City Community Emergency Response Team Academy

NHP: One confirmed dead in crash at Highway 50 East near Airport Road in Carson City

The cause is under investigation. One vehicle involved left the scene of the crash. NHP had earlier advised it was looking for a suspect vehicle with heavy front end damage. At 8:41 p.m., NHP advised it was no longer looking for the vehicle. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 8:05PM: Care Flight air ambulances have taken patients from the separate crashes that happened Tuesday night on Highway 50 East and Highway 50 West to the hospital, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey.

Around 125 firefighting personnel are working the fire, which began Monday afternoon.

Carson City Fire Department has sent a brush unit to the Hungry Valley fire that started Monday afternoon in the Spanish Springs area north of Reno. Multiple fire agencies have been called to help fight the fire, which started around 1 p.m. and is burning in the hills east of the Hungry Valley Colony.

Carson City deputies take man into custody, woman suffers stab to neck during domestic

He was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder, domestic battery with substantial bodily harm, battery with a deadly weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held at Carson City Jail. The victim was taken to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center for a stab wound to the neck, and an injury to her head and was later released.

UPDATE 7:41PM: The suspect is in custody and is being interviewed, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Craig Lowe. The victim told deputies she was beaten, stabbed and possibly hit with a hammer. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The man was hiding inside the residence when deputies arrived on scene. Officers used a PA system to order the man out of the home. The suspect, who was covered in blood, began shouting and then came out, said Sgt. Lowe. The scene has been secured. Detectives are investigating. His name will be released Monday.

Carson City Fire Department was called Sunday afternoon to the Brunswick Canyon area for an injured motorcycle rider in the backcountry. A CareFlight helicopter was ordered and landed in the area near the patient.

Crews gained access to the apartment’s rooftop and began ventilation efforts on the structure. Quick and effective operations managed to contain the fire within one unit and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent units. A ferret was located within the residence and appeared to be in good condition, no resuscitation was needed. No reported injuries.
