Fire alarm prompts evacuation at Jacks Valley Elementary, firefighters report slight smoke, no flames
East Fork Fire was called Wednesday morning for reports of smoke at Jacks Valley Elementary School south of Carson City in Douglas County. All students were safely evacuated.
Carson City Fire Department had been called to assist as a mutual backup and then were called off. The call came into dispatch at around 9:30 a.m.
Arriving firefighters reported a faint smell of smoke in the west corridor of the school, however, could not find any signs of fire or flames. East Fork firefighters on scene are investigating. At 10:08 a.m. firefighters on scene reported an issue with the school's HVAC and other problems.
Jacks Valley Road was closed at Highway 395 briefly and then reopened.
