East Fork Fire Protection District in Douglas County and the Carson City Fire Department were called Monday morning to a structure fire in the 3300 block of Vista Grande south of Carson City in the Indian Hills area.

The Fire Department will allow open burning now through April 19, 2020. The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Sunday to a gas leak in the 900 block of North Stewart.

The call came into dispatch at around 9:30 a.m. The gas leak was confirmed and fire department personnel worked to get it clamped. Traffic in the area of Valley and Stewart streets was re-directed. Southwest Gas has been notified.

Carson City Fire Department is conducting controlled burn operations Tuesday in the Kings Canyon area. If you see smoke, it is part of the burning operation.

Carson City Fire Department and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District were called Monday afternoon to a SUV fire at southbound I-580 near Lakeview Hill in Washoe Valley.

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Airport Road and Woodside for domestic battery first and obstructing a public officer.

According to the report, the man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic battery in progress. Dispatch advised that the suspect was hitting the reporting party.
