Open burning allowed with permit in Carson City until April 19

The Fire Department will allow open burning now through April 19, 2020. The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulated weeds and yard debris.

Carson City emergency crews called to gas leak on North Stewart Street

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Sunday to a gas leak in the 900 block of North Stewart.

The call came into dispatch at around 9:30 a.m. The gas leak was confirmed and fire department personnel worked to get it clamped. Traffic in the area of Valley and Stewart streets was re-directed. Southwest Gas has been notified.
