You can give an entire family a big cheer Thursday by donating a turkey at the annual Carson City High Five Turkey Drive hosted by FISH at Carson City Nissan. Stop by, bring a turkey and give a local family in need a happy Thanksgiving. Going into the middle of the work week we can expect highs near 70. Local events Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019 include an Eagle Valley Middle School expansion plan community meeting, "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, a Little Valley fire re-seeding gathering, a Toys for Tots volunteer orientation meeting, art showings, classes and more.

Thank you U.S. Veterans for your service to our great country. There are a number of organized happenings in the region, including parades in Virginia City and Reno, as well as events in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. Plus a number of Carson City and Carson Valley restaurants are offering no cost meals as a gesture of gratitude to veterans and active duty military members. Also Monday is a discussion on homeless issues with local advocate and champion for those who are often without a voice, Dee Dee Foremaster.
Responders called to reported vehicle, garage on fire on S. Edmonds Road
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 11/08/2019 - 4:21pmAt 3:19 p.m. Friday afternoon a vehicle was reported to be on fire in the 4900 block of S. Edmonds Road.
As of 4:00 p.m. the fire was out and a tow truck was called to remove the vehicle.
The Carson City Fire Department released this statement:
"Your Carson City Firefighters are on scene of detached garage fire on the south end of the city. Firefighters quick actions prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby trailer and house. One firefighter received a minor injury. The garage and one vehicle inside were destroyed in the blaze."

Carson City family keeps Tiffani and Bailee's annual Sealed Toy Drive alive in memory

For those who did not know Tiffani, all she ever wanted to do was help people. She carried water and snacks in her car to give to the homeless and people less fortunate than her.

Responders called to fatal crash near Deer Run and Highway 50 in Carson City

One person died. One suffered minor injuries. The name of the person who died has not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Carson City deputies arrest multiple suspects in unrelated burglary crimes
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 11/01/2019 - 10:15amA 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3000 block of Thurman Circle early Thursday morning on nine counts including felony possession of stolen property, ex-felon in possession of a firearm, and six counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, two other people were arrested in connection with this incident for obstruction after allegedly telling deputies the man wasn’t at home.

Responders called to Telegraph and Carson for motorcycle accident with injury

The reporting party stated the vehicle struck the motorcycle at a low rate of speed, and the motorcycle hit the vehicle in front of them.

El Dorado County sheriff's deputy shot and killed in line of duty, two suspects in custody

Deputy Brian Ishmael, a four-year veteran of the department, died as a result of the shooting. Two people are in custody.

The JAG program at Pioneer High School has made positive changes since its implementation just a few years ago. The JAG program teaches life skills to students and allows them to learn skills such as public speaking, taxes, how to apply for scholarships, car loans, and of course, resumes and cover letters, among many other topics.

Bear looking for food shows up on Carson City's west side; NDOW to release back into wild

With recent bear sightings around Carson City, including Tuesday morning off of Minnesota Street, it is a sure sign that fall has set in as the capital city area is seeing increased bear foraging activity, according to wildlife officials.
