Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man charged with felony battery, says inmate 'snitched' on him

A 24-year-old Carson City jail inmate faces a felony battery charge after allegedly fighting Thursday with an inmate he said had “snitched” on him, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers assigned to the jail approached the main floor of the housing unit at around 1:20 p.m. and observed suspect, Joshua Neal Floyd, 24, standing in an aggressive fighting stance with another inmate.

NHP: Fallon murder suspect dies of self-inflicted gunshot

UPDATE: 630PM: Channel 2 News has confirmed that the suspect in a Fallon murder that happened this afternoon, is dead. Nevada Highway Patrol tells Channel 2 that Larry Small died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after attempting to flee from troopers in Humboldt County.

Carson City weekend arrest log: Man jailed on sexual assault, lewdness with a child charges

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday 5:52 p.m. at Carson Tahoe Hospital on felony warrant charges alleging sexual assault on a minor and lewdness with a child under the age of 14, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Daniel James Sperske, a resident in the 1400 block of North Edmonds Drive. He was at the hospital being treated for an injury. Officers knew he had the warrants issued March 24 out of Carson City Justice Court and made the arrest there. Bail: $150,000.

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green. Carson City definitely gets in on the game with festivities all over town. Corned beef and cabbage, green beer, and live music abound. Law enforcement efforts beefed up around Carson City for St. Paddy's revelry

St. Patrick's Day is Tuesday and green beer will be filling pint sized glasses in pubs and bars throughout Carson City, as is the tradition. Revelers can also count on a large presence of sheriff's office deputies and Nevada Highway Patrol troopers who will be targeting unsafe drivers on the road.

Carson City sheriff's log: Arrests made for burglary, DUIs and battery involving pepper spray

Two people, a 39-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested Saturday in the 700 block of Hot Springs Road in Carson City on suspicion of felony burglary. Arrested were Deeanna Sue Byars and James Thomas Rebelez. Each are being held on $20,000 bond, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, at approximately 2 p.m. an officer was dispatched to 3200 Market Street, Walmart, for a petit larceny report. The officer learned the suspects were walking down Hot Springs Road.

January Browsers Corner event features writer's debut mystery novel

Come to the Browsers Corner Book Store in Carson City to meet author Mark S. Bacon at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8. Mr. Bacon has written for radio, TV, the web, magazines and for newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle.

He has written several business books, one of which was selected as best business book of the year by Library Journal, but “Death in Nostalgia City” is his first mystery novel.

Carson City turns out for food collection at Governor's Mansion

The Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor’s Mansion was held recently in Carson City. Food for Thought, Friends in Service Helping (also known as FISH) and Ron Wood Family Resource Center gathered for the event hosted by Channel 2 News in Reno. Also cab drivers donated through a program they established called Toys for Tips.
In all around 5,156 pounds of food was collected.

Carson City sheriff’s log: Fight at casino leads to two arrests

Two people were arrested at a Carson Street casino early Thursday morning after officers were called regarding a fight inside a bathroom, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said. Neither arrest involved assault charges at the casino, located in 900 block of South Carson Street. The fight had broken up at around the time officers arrived.

Vehicle burglary suspect faces additional felony charge

A man suspected of several car break-ins earlier this week faces another felony charge after officers recovered a chrome folding knife that was reported stolen from one of the vehicles burglarized, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Donald Ray McNeill, 45, was jailed Wednesday on charges of stolen property, vehicle burglary and parole violation. The additional charge was made Thursday after a burglary victim identified the knife.

Woman arrested on suspicion of fourth DUI

A Carson City woman with three prior DUI convictions was jailed Sunday on a felony charge of driving under the influence after after an incident at a grocery store parking lot, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Cynthia Bess Reilly, 58, is being held on $20,000 bail. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area of Carson Street and Winnie Lane at 2:12 p.m. to look for the suspected driver and then went to the 4200 block of Mulligan Drive, the address of the registered owner.

Carson City woman jailed on felony grand larceny, stolen property charges

A 38-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday in the 500 block of Jeanell Drive on suspicion of felony grand larceny and possession of stolen property after allegedly stealing flooring, tools and a swamp cooler, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Cab driver among five arrested in Carson City drug bust

Acting on several tips of drugs allegedly being sold out of a home with children inside and local from a taxi cab driver, Carson City Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team officers arrested five people Thursday night at a Condor Circle home.

Officers confiscated small amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, more than 30 pieces of assorted drug paraphernalia and cash after a search warrant was granted. Three children — two four-year-olds and a seven-year-old — were taken into protective custody, according arresting Carson City sheriff’s officers.

Carson City couple jailed for allegedly having sex in public

A Carson City couple were arrested Monday on felony charges after being found engaging in sex acts outdoors where people could see, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Steven Helton, 28, and Tracey L. Johnson, 44, were arrested at 5:41 p.m. in the grassy area near the DMV at South Carson and Stewart streets.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to a 911 call of a couple having sex in public. Officers met with the caller who pointed to a grassy area south of the DMV and north of Office Depot.

Carson City man jailed on misdemeanor threats charge

A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 100 block of Corbett Street on a misdemeanor charge of allegedly making threats, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

At 9:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area regarding a noise complaint. Upon arrival from the street the officers could hear loud music coming from an apartment. An officer met with the suspect inside the apartment who agreed to turn down the music.

Carson City man jailed for allegedly forging prescription from doctor

A 41-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:32 p.m. in the 500 block of East William Street on felony suspicion of forgery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Robert Wayne Smith was jailed on $5,000 bail. Officers spoke with the pharmacist who received a call from a local doctor who asked the pharmacist not to fill any new prescriptions for the man as they were all forged, the arrest report states.

Carson City man faces felony charges after entering home to take a shower

A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of violation of probation and being a sex offender failing to register. Mario Moreno was arrested in the 200 block of Jeanell Drive.
According to the arrest report, an officer assigned to the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team responded to a residence for a report of a suspicious subject at a residence.

Carson City man jailed on disorderly conduct charge after throwing fit inside casino

A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday at a local casino on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

Carson City Sheriff's office deputies arrested the man 8:47 p.m. in the 2100 block of East William Street. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the casino after a patron refused to leave and was causing a disturbance.

Officers spoke with security who advised the man would not leave after being told to leave. Security offered the man a cab but the man refused and said he was going to stay.

Family of Carson City man killed by hit-and-run driver asks for help locating the suspect

The family of a 31-year-old Carson CIty pedestrian who was struck on Highway 50 near Stateline at Lake Tahoe in the early morning hours of Aug. 10, 2013 seeks help in locating the driver who fled the scene, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Cody J. Dobson was walking on the highway, or may have stumbled from the adjacent sidewalk, just east of the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa at approximately 3:13 am prior to being struck by a motor vehicle, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Wellington man, Samuel H. Dupuis, killed in crash on State Route 208

An 87-year-old Wellington man, Samuel H. Dupuis, and his dog were killed in a crash Monday afternoon in Douglas County on State Route 208, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported 12:49 p.m. NHP troopers were dispatched to a collision near Kyle Drive, four miles east of Highway 395, involving a commercial motor vehicle and a small pickup, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Dick Campagni's Carson City Toyota Scion is raffling a new 2014 Toyota Tacoma with 100 percent of the proceeds generated to go toward University of Nevada Wolf Pack football and basketball programs.

On March 8 during the Nevada vs. UNLV basketball game, the Pack will raffle off the new Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab V6, courtesy of the Northern Nevada Toyota Dealers.
