The first Monday of March should bring clearing skies and sunshine after a weekend of wild weather. Activities include a discussion and documentary viewing regarding the high cost of pharmaceutical drugs, plus Read Across America storytime for young children at the Carson City Library, fitness events, West Coast swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

Heading into the backend of the work week, events lined up Thursday include day 1 of the 7th annual International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a free information session on the legal and financial aspects of long-term care hosted by Carson Tahoe Care Center, the Carson City GOP will host a meeting to discuss precinct organization, plus trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, a Muscle Powered afternoon hike and a lecture on women’s suffrage movement history in Nevada. More springlike weather around the capital city is ahead Ash Wednesday with a daytime high near 65. Events include a Real ID town hall meeting at the Carson City DMV, the economic impact of pro soccer in Northern Nevada will be featured at NNDA's Business Edge at Casino Fandango, Carson City Schools offers the first of three pre-kindergarten programs for parents and will also host a separate strategic plan meeting. Meanwhile, Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness hosts a yoga class, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Heading into Tuesday, activities and events lined up around the capital city include morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs, a regular meeting of the Carson City School Board, the Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show at its Brewery Arts Center gallery, Carson Victory Rollers present a new skater program, plus classes at Yaple's Ballroom and more.

Time flies as the sun shines going into the last Monday in February. Expect daytime highs around 60. Activities include are a political luncheon with Clint Koble, a primary candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, plus yoga, fitness events, West Coast swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Happy Saturday Carson City! It’s caucus day, are you ready to vote if you are so inclined? Here are some events to do after/instead throughout the Carson City region!

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." For those returning from the three-day holiday weekend, Tuesday is shaping up to be a great day around the capital city. Muscle Powered will host morning and evening walks; it is the final day of early voting for the Nevada caucus, plus there's the Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show at its gallery in the Brewery Arts Center, classes at Yaple's Ballroom, meetings and more.

Heading into Monday, Presidents' Day, we're looking at sunny skies and a high near 55. Being a federal holiday, local, state and federal offices are closed, as are schools and banks. Activities include a meeting of Carson City AGLOW International at the Children's Museum, a campaign rally featuring presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, a meeting of the Carson City Democrats focusing on Saturday's Nevada caucus, fitness events, West Coast swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Step aside Felix and Oscar, Florence and Olive are in town! The female version of The Odd Couple opens February 14 at the Brewery Arts Center and runs 14-16 and 21-23 with doors opening at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday nights at doors at 1:30 pm on Sundays. Show at 7:30 pm and 2:00 pm.

Fortunate Strangers is a West Coast band featuring Scottish and Irish songs. The band combines the experience of three performers from the San Francisco Bay Area and the High Sierra. They will be performing Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Happenings around the capital city include a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a cardio and strength connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a Muscle Powered hike along the V&T trail, library activities, Pilates at the Brewery Arts Center and for your music pleasure, roots raconteur Ray Bonneville will perform at the Silver City Schoolhouse with Richie Lawrence.
