Come join Youth Theatre Carson City's Showstoppers as they present their Showstoppers' Holiday Spectacular this weekend at the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

Showtimes are 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20 and 2 pm Sunday, Dec. 21. Join the Showstoppers as they sing your holiday favorites. Matt Wilkerson as Elvis Presley will also perform.

I follow the pages of local businesses and organizations, search website calendars, and compile a list of anything and everything going on in this community weekly. Some of it is family friendly, some is just for adults, but all of it is nearby.

Happy Friday, Carson City! We have survived 'HalloweeNevada' Day and now it's time to enjoy the autumn weather, warm drinks, good music, and the craft fair season.

Many people in our area have Facebook accounts, but not everyone, so I am pleased to bring you the event list that is featured on my Facebook page, I love Carson City.

Currently playing at the Carson City Community Center is the "House of Bernalda Alba" performed by CHS Theater students. The dramatic play had its first show this past weekend. It will continue this coming weekend with performances on Oct. 9, 10, 11 at 7p.m. and again at 2 p.m. on Oct. 11. General admission prices are $10 at the door, $5 for students. Auditions for The Silver State Stars production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will be Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Silver State Charter Schools.
Open to the public - looking for actors of all-ages. Those auditioning should prepare a one minute classical monologue.

Community rehearsals will be held Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon at the Performing Arts Center at Silver State Charter Schools. Performances December 11-14, 2014. Additional auditions for Silver State Charter Schools students will be held Thursday, September 25 at 12:30pm.

The Carson City Symphony Chorus and conductor Michael Langham invite everyone who loves to sing, from high school age through adults, to join them. This season the Chorus will sing in at least three concerts with the Carson City Symphony: "A Nevada 150 Concert" on October 26, the "Holiday Treat" on December 14, and the "Pops Party" on June 14.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is holding the 5th Annual Chairman’s Scramble Golf Tournament on September 26 at Silver Oak Golf Course. All proceeds to benefit Carson High Culinary Pro Start and SkillsUSA organizations. The event has a 12:30 PM shotgun start and costs $25 per person. You must RSVP by calling 882-1565.

And so we begin week five of this year at Carson High School. The time passes so quickly. All sports teams are on a roll, and activities and clubs are full speed ahead as well.

Youth Theatre Carson City will hold an audition for Annie Jr., the classic musical this Saturday, Sept. 6 beginning at 10 a.m. in the gym at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

Train To A Dark Budapest is an exciting story set in 1936, Hungary. Ada Pfeiffer is spiriting Jews from the country and Klaus Brenner, Gestapo agent is brought in to stop her. The web tightens as the story progresses. We have need of two female actors, 25 to 40 yrs. of age, plus four male actors, the same age spans. Project Americans Coming Together local director Carla Wilson, and event coordinator Joy Evans will hold an informational meeting and auditions for two local original productions designed to bring both national and local history to life.

This meeting will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints located at 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.

Auditions for the Eagle Board house, a comedy written and directed by Dianne McCullough, will be July 27, 7 p.m. at the Dayton Valley Library.

In the production, the Eagle Boarding House is owned and operated by Amber Brown. Her boarders have taken up residence due to unfortunate circumstances of losing their homes and properties to the bank.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is distributing audition information for the Lerner and Loewe masterwork, My Fair Lady, to play in eight performances this November at the Carson City Community Center.
Auditions will be the second week of August. Specific times, location and information on what to prepare for auditions will be emailed to those who sign up for auditions.

Youth Theatre Carson City will hold auditions for Guys and Dolls, Jr. this Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Auditioners should come prepared to sing a one minute song and to learn a dance combination. Tuition $100. Scholarships available.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company will hold auditions for the Broadway blockbuster "Chicago" on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Broadway blockbuster won six Tony Awards and has continued to be an international hit. It will play in seven performances on weekends, May 9-18, in Carson City.

Producer and director Stephanie Arrrigotti said parts are open for six leading roles and two dance troupes. “Those auditioning for the primary dance troupe need extraordinary dance ability and well-toned bodies,” she said.

Wild Horse Children’s Theater is looking for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5-16 to audition for Disney’s “Mulan, Jr.” Auditions will be held Thursday, January 9 from 4-7 pm and Saturday, January 11 from 1-4 pm at the Performance Hall of the Brewery Arts Center , 511 W. King Street in Carson City. Auditions are by appointment only. You must call for an audition slot.

Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming auditions for SHREK: The Musical, an exciting adaptation of the classic DreamWorks film to be held on Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. in the gymnasium at the Carson City Community Center. The show will run one weekend, Jan. 10-12, 2014 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Community Center.

This week's guest on It's Your City is Carla Wilson who talks about the Senior Follies, the primary fundraiser for the Carson City Senior Meals programs. Auditions were held in March. There are 35 seniors involved in the production.

Performance dates are Sept. 13-15 at the Carson City Community center's Bob Boldrick Theater. This year's theme is "Around the World in 80 Minutes" and is directed by Wilson. The cost is $10 for seniors (50 and over), $15 for general admission. Children six and under are free.

Casting Call for Murder in the House of Horrors: Carson City — Proscenium Players, Inc., in conjunction with Silver State High School in Carson City is auditioning for the adult roles in a murder mystery production by Billy St. John – Murder in the House of Horrors.

CARSON CITY — Fans of the movie “Twelve Angry Men” will delight in Proscenium Players’ stage-play version of it, “Twelve Angry Jurors.”

Director Heidi Hampton has chosen to balance male and female roles and set the stage play, to be performed at the Silver State Charter School’s Performing Arts Theatre, in a time period when women were first allowed to sit on a jury.

Le Cirque Vagabond cirque style entertainment brings a breathtaking and wondrous show to Carson City with Dreamaire, Saturday, April 20, with shows at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Bob Boldrick Theater, in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

The Carson City Senior Citizens Center will be holding open auditions for the 16th Annual Senior Follies production on Wednesday, March 27th from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center Main Dining Room, 911 Beverly Dr., Carson City. Performance dates are Sept. 13, 14 and 15 at the Carson City Community Center’s Bob Boldrick Theater. This year’s theme is “Around the World in 80 Minutes” and is directed by Carla Wilson.

The “Vagina Monologues” will be performed March 30 in The Bob Boldrick Theater at Carson City Community Center in a benefit for Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

Open auditions for actors and actresses age 16 or older for Proscenium Players’ May production of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at Silver State Charter School Performing Arts Center, 900 Mallory Rd., Carson City.
