Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Nature lovers will find a variety of ways to celebrate the outdoors during Carson City Historical Society’s Earth Day Garden Festival on April 22.

A public reception for emerging artist Allison Rasmussen is being hosted by the Resident Artist Program in Silver City on Saturday, March 3 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the McCormick House, 142 High Street, the residence for visiting artists with the Resident Artist Program.

We’ve got one heck of a weekend on its way, and it’s starting right now. Start off with a trip to the Governor’s Mansion with something non-perishable for the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive: you won’t even have to leave the warmth of your vehicle. Break a leg to Wild Horse Children’s Theater and to the Proscenium Players. Both troupes begin the run of their winter plays tonight at the Brewery Arts Center. It’s a Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at Fuji Park. You’ll find a plethora of vendors, crafters, and artisans waiting to help make your holiday shopping hassle-free.

For the sixth year, Carson City residents lined up Friday night to feast on delicious, savory soup served in handmade clay pottery created by local artisans as part of the Empty Bowls Project to raise money for local families and individuals who often go without daily hot, nutritious cooked meals.

The rumors of Santa Claus coming to town are true. The jolly old man is making several appearances today, and is feeling photogenic. Take a ride with him at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, join him on the ‘Elf Crawl’ from the Capitol to the Carson Mall, or tell him your wish list at Debug Computers. Adults have a hard choice to make: the monthly downtown wine walk and the Holiday with a Hero Pub Crawl both take place today, and I’m not sure I’d recommend attempting both.

Welcome to the weekend, Carson City. Now that we are in November, thoughts turn to the holiday season. That means craft fairs. St. Paul’s Lutheran Family on Saliman welcomes you to their annual Craftique Open House. You’ll find the Young at Heart Seniors Club hosting a faire at the Douglas County Community Center. The Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room will be home to several artisans, vendors, and crafters during today’s wine walk. There’s quite a bit more, and plenty that doesn’t involve shopping, so take a look and have a great time.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Sophie Scott of New Zealand is the visiting artist at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City this Autumn. Her latest artwork will be showcased in an exhibition on the 4th Floor Gallery of nearby St. Mary’s Art Center, 55 North R Street, Virginia City, from Oct. 14 through Oct. 21. The public is invited to the catered opening reception on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Some weekends are pretty cut and dry, just a few things to choose among. This, however, is not one of those weekends. High-flying, death-defying action takes over the Minden Airport as the Aviation Roundup Air Show takes to the skies. Pasta-lovers won’t want to miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno. Carson City’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk gets a dose of nostalgia as the Western Airstream Convention sets up shop and welcomes the curious.

Summer is holding on for dear life, and sending a miniature heat wave our way for this long weekend. For those of you not in Black Rock City, the Carson City region offers plenty of recreation and entertainment. Downtown will be hopping with the Farmers Market, monthly Wine Walk, and this season’s last outdoor concert at the Brewery Arts Center – and that’s just Saturday! Get the kids up early for the Young Eagle Flights at the Carson City Airport – they’re free, but you need to be on time for registration. Summer weekends make me wish I had a clone. With all the hustle and bustle in town, there is just no way to do and see it all. Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

The Gallery on Main in Genoa is having an Artisans Market on their patio on August 5 & 6, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Local artisans will be showing and selling their one of a kind items.

Silver City, Nevada - Silver City Arts group is sponsoring “Outsider Show: Molly Brunhild Paintings,” at the Silver City School House (community center) at 385 High Street. The exhibit will feature the artist’s current work as well as work from earlier periods. The third annual Sassabration diversity festival launched Saturday morning with a parade from the Brewery Arts Center to Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint at Carson Hot Springs Resort in Carson City.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Each year, the Resident Artist Program in Silver City hosts at least one emerging artist, in addition to hosting established artists. This year, Marielle Toll, a multi-talented emerging artist, was awarded a residency in the "emerging artists" category. At 18 she is already showing remarkable skill and talent in photography, illustration, and web site design.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — The Silver City Arts group announces its exhibition featuring the work of Larry Kotik in his first one person show. The group will host a reception on Saturday, May 6th at the Silver City School House, 385 High Street, from 1 to 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

Take advantage of the spring sunshine and seize the day. Virginia City roars with the sound of their annual Grand Prix. Beer and brats aren’t usually associated with ballet, but the Sierra Nevada Ballet makes the annual event at the Brewery Arts Center a great time for all. The Earth Spirit Faire wraps up its weekend of wellness at the Community Center. Head to Reno for a Cinco De Mayo Celebration at the Grand Sierra that features musicians, cuisine, and carnival rides.

Hold on to your hat, the weekend is here. If it’s a cowboy hat, head over to Genoa for their annual Cowboy Festival. Plenty of free things to see, hear, and experience await. The annual Spring Earth Spirit Faire lets you celebrate Mother Earth with workshops, holistic practitioners, great vendors, and a raffle. It benefits the Heart to Heart School and Advocates to End Domestic Violence so it’s always worth checking out. You’ll have to keep reading for all of your choices, the spring thaw brings out the best this valley has to offer.
