VIRGINIA CITY — Dec. 4-5, 2021, St. Mary’s Art Center, historic landmark and former St. Mary Louise Hospital built in 1875, will host more than 22 artists and makers for a festive, vibrant and fun weekend of arts, crafts, refreshments, and holiday music.

The first Carson Farmer's Market of the season took place Saturday and all was well with social distancing measures in place.

Vendors were limited to growers and artisans who make products from what they grow only, and meat vendors should be coming back soon.

Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. The Casino Fandango has opened its new “Craft 55” bar, which is dedicated to craft beers and a pub-style menu with a few unique twists, including Duck Wings served with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks, bangers and mash, and chipotle shrimp cocktail, along with traditional pub fare such as sliders, bacon mac and cheese, buffalo chicken wings and more.

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Community Roots & Shoots’ annual Holiday Open House is Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 209 Dayton Valley Road.

Save the date for opportunities to shop local. Everything in the shop will be 10 percent off during the Holiday Open House. Complimentary treats and hot cocoa will be offered, and Santa will visit from 2pm-6pm.

The nonprofit floral and gift shop offers unique gifts, holiday and all occasion floral arrangements and cards, plus wreaths, garlands and Christmas trees.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Carson City residents showed up in masses to start their holiday shopping. Carson High School (CHS) played host to over a hundred crafters, artisans, candy makers, knitters and even more happy shoppers at this weekend’s 25th Annual Holiday Craft Fair.

Events include Polar Express train rides, Touched By Angels hosts a garden craft show on Saturday, a night photo shoot at the Nevada State museum, Rob Sherwood headlines the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget, 'Matilda the Musical' and more!

Touched by Angels in Carson City will host a Home and Garden Craft Show this Saturday at 205 East John Street. Celebrating its 9th year, the show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be great food and a raffle. See the beautiful creations of 29 local artisans metal work, bird houses, local honey, jewelry and much more.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

On Saturday, August 24, 2019 join your neighbors and friends for the very first Carson City Open Studios Tour here in the capital city from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival.

Eddy Street Vintage Market is helping raise funds for Main Street Gardnerville, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization. A portion of the proceeds from the $5 entry fee from their 5th Annual Artisans & Antiques Festival will be donated to Main Street Gardnerville to further their work creating and preserving a beautiful and economically vibrant downtown.

Gardnerville, Nevada’s only vintage pop-up shop for their 5th Annual Artisans & Antiques Festival. This year’s outdoor festival is Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1235 Eddy Street in the heart of the Main Street Gardnerville District. The event includes 55+ local vendors featuring a variety of handmade items, vintage furniture and decor. Plus, an array of delicious food and drinks will be available for your stroll down Eddy Street.

Though Desert Sage Trading Co. opened in mid-august, owners Carmen Corina and Christopher Franklin decided they wanted to let the business grow organically.

The Carson City Chamber continues to search for new items for their artisan store to launch in time for holiday gift giving. This year, the Chamber partnered with Silver State Industries to introduce the first in several series of collector’s puzzles featuring iconic Carson City scenes.

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — It wouldn't be fall in the Carson Valley without the annual Scarecrow and Harvest Festival hosted by Main Street Gardens and East Fork Gallery. Or the Annual Slaughterhouse Lane Coffin and Stretcher Races.

This year Main Street Gardnerville has combined all these events into one big festival called Main Street Fall Fest, with more music, activities, demonstrations and vendors at Heritage Park on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West returns to Dangberg Historic Park for a third year on Saturday, August 25 with festivities beginning at 2 p.m. This is the park’s final special event of the 2018 Dangberg Summer Festival, focused on raising funds to support the operation and future of the park.

More than 40 craftsmen and artisans joined together in the heat during Greenhouse Garden Center's 15th annual "Art at the Greenhouse" event on Saturday, part of the Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival continuing in Carson City.

I’m not even going to speculate on the air quality, but please use your best judgement when choosing your activities and there may be some cancellations that I am not aware of. Downtown has a full day of options, but the back roads may be a little more difficult to navigate due to construction projects. The great music that awaits will be worth the hassle.
