Man with baseball bat arrested after allegedly breaking into Carson City home

A Carson City man is in jail and an accomplice is at-large after the men, allegedly wielding baseball bats, broke into the home of an elderly man and stole his grandson's motorcycle.

Frederick Joseph Atherton III, 22, was jailed early Sunday morning. He faces felony charges of robbery of a person over 65 years of age, burglary of a person over 65 years of age and home invasion. Bail is $40,000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Airport Road at 1:49 Sunday morning after two men with baseball bats were seen breaking into an apartment.

According to the arrest report, at about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, the woman was seen leaning on the glass doors at the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Musser Street. The woman appeared to be distressed and an officer asked her what was wrong.

Clifford Eugene Marshall Jr., 46, was arrested Thursday afternoon at 2nd and Allouette streets for felony battery with strangulation and bodily harm.

According to the arrest report, a deputy responding to a report of a fight in progress saw Marshall hit another man while the man was trying to get up off the ground. The deputy said he recognized both subjects from an incident a week ago. After talking to witnesses at the scene and examining injuries on the man Marshall hit, he placed Marshall under arrest. His bail was set at $15,000.

David Phillip Gawdun, who lives in the 1700 block of Russell Way, is being held on $43,132 bond in the Carson City Jail after he was arrested on Saturday. In an interview, he has admitted to slapping the girl and other instances of child abuse on the toddler and the girl's 3-year-old brother.

A Carson City convenient store owner faces a misdemeanor battery charge after he allegedly poked a man with an aluminum baseball bat and then kicked him in the back after the man confessed to stealing.
According to the arrest report, deputies were contacted Tuesday at about 7 p.m. by the alleged victim who told authorities he was battered by the 19-year-old owner of the Woodside Drive convenient store.

A Carson City man who came to the sheriff's office front counter to register as a sex offender, was arrested on Thursday after being wanted on two felony fugitive from justice warrants out of Lassen County.

David Henry Duke, 25, whose street address listed on the arrest report as living in the 700 block of Hot Springs Drive in Carson City, came to the sheriff's office at 1:40 Thursday afternoon to register as a sex offender, according to the arrest report. A wants and warrants check was conducted on Duke by the sheriff's office civil division, according to the arrest report.
