Former Carson City Clerk-Recorder, Nevada lawmaker Alan Glover dies
Former Carson City Clerk-Recorder Alan Glover, who served nearly 40 years of public service including elected seats in the Nevada Legislature, died on Monday. According to the Nevada Appeal he died of pneumonia caused by a COVID-19 infection.
Prior to being Clerk-Recorder, which he served for 20 years, he spent 14 years in the Nevada Legislature, serving 10 of those years in the Assembly and four in the State Senate.
Glover, a Carson City native, became Clerk-Recorder in Carson City in 1994 and announced in 2014 that he was retiring.
Funeral arrangements are being made through Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued the following statement Wednesday on the passing of Glover.
“I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our long time public servant, Alan Glover. He was an exemplary Nevadan who had committed himself to a life of servitude, leading to the improvement of his hometown of Carson City and to our great State of Nevada,” said Governor Sisolak. “Kathy and I send our love and condolences to his wife, Harle, and the entire Glover family.”
The governor noted Glover was elected to the Nevada State Assembly in 1972, the same year he graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, devoting his career to public office by serving in both branches of the Nevada Legislature and 20 years as Carson City's Clerk-Recorder, becoming the longest serving clerk in city history.
"Carson City and the State of Nevada are in a better place because of efforts and contributions provided by Alan Glover," according to the governor's statement.
