Climate Change Expert to Speak to Carson City Rotarians
Climate change is the topic at Rotary Club of Carson City’s next meeting. The Nevada State Climate Policy Coordinator, Dr. Kristen Averyt, will be the guest speaker at the lunchtime meeting on Tuesday, November 10 at 12:30 P.M. Averyt is also a Research Professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Rotarian Richard Perry says the club is looking forward to the presentation. “We don’t hear a lot about what Nevada is doing to combat climate change. I think we will learn a lot from Dr. Averyt. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position with the State.”
Prior to joining UNLV, Averyt served as President of the Desert Research Institute. She also shared in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
The meeting will take place at the Carson Nugget in the Capital Room. Guests are invited to attend in person or online via ZOOM. Anyone interested in attending should contact Peter Fishburn at pfishburn@charter.net. For information on the Rotary Club of Carson City visit www.carsonrotary.org.
