Carson City vehicle pursuit leads to crash, foot chase after attempted felony warrant stop
What began as an attempt to serve a felony warrant out of Sacramento led to a high-speed police chase involving multiple jurisdictions Friday night, culminating in a single vehicle crash on Old 395 near the I-580 exit.
Just after 5 p.m. Carson City deputies attempted to pull over a silver 4-door Nissan SUV near Goni and Arrowhead, according to dispatch, in connection with a felony warrant out of Sacramento.
However, the vehicle did not stop and instead made it onto I-580 and led deputies on a chase through Washoe Valley. NHP and Washoe County deputies were alerted and discussions to place spikes on the road were underway when the vehicle exited I-580 onto 395.
The vehicle then crashed in a ditch just North of the exit. The suspect then exited the vehicle, leaving his phone and belongings behind, and ran up a small hill before climbing the wall onto the freeway and crossing all lanes of traffic on foot.
Deputies gave chase to the suspect into a wooded area west of the freeway before eventually confronting the suspect at gunpoint before taking him into custody.
An ambulance was called due to lacerations the man obtained.
Updates to follow.
