PFLAG Carson City Region hosts Candidates Night on Thursday
The local PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) chapter is again sponsoring Candidate’s Night this Thursday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at in Carson City at the Business Resource Innovation Center, 108 East Proctor Street, Carson City from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Candidates from the 2012 Carson City ballot were invited and most responded. For the first hour, each candidate will be given 3 minutes to speak. This format was selected to 1) allow the audience to hear many candidates in one hour, and 2) to encourage candidates to present their best, most convincing arguments within the 3-minute time allotment. From 8:00 to 8:30, there will be a meet-and-greet reception, when candidates can be approached with specific questions. Refreshments will be served.
“Our 2010 Candidates Night was a resounding success,” says PFLAG Carson Region President Rebecca Palmer. “Using the same format, we had a great turnout from the candidates, the voters and the media.”
