Attention single female homeowners: Women's council offers home improvement help
The Builders Association of Western Nevada Women’s Council, which serves Carson City, Douglas County and Lyon County, will continue its Helping Hands program this year by giving single female homeowners or senior citizens some help with upgrades and repairs to the homes they own.
Helping Hand signups continue through Sept. 12. To be considered for the program applicants:
— Must be a single female homeowner or senior citizen
— Applicant’s name must appear on the assessor’s role.
— Is to be done at your owned residence.
— Can be completed within 1-2 days or less.
— Will require you to execute a Release of All Claims before receiving our Helping Hands.
— The residence must be located in one of the following Counties: Carson City, Douglas County, or Lyon County.
Some of the home improvement features under the program include : Light painting, caulking, replacing hardware, replace purchased light fixtures, replace purchased ceiling fans, replace purchased faucets and bathroom fixtures, light fence repairs, light yard work, weatherization, minor repairs to shelves and/or cabinets, light irrigation repair, repair or replace purchased lock assembly sets, etc. Applications can be found by going to www.bawn.org/2013-helping-hands-application/
All applications will be reviewed for compliance to these parameters. All work done is facilitated by donation of labor and materials, if homeowner needs replacement of items they need to be purchased by the homeowner if donations of material are not available.
Applicants will be chosen and an initial home visit will be scheduled to review repairs in September 2013. After all site visits are completed the Council will then award assistance based on time and budget availability. Final approvals will be made in September 2013. Coordination of labor and materials and completion of projects will be done in October 2013. Anyone that cannot be available during this time will not be considered for assistance this year.
