Nevada State High School Chief Operations Officer to speak to the Rotary Club of Carson City
The Rotary Club of Carson City’s weekly meeting will feature guest speaker Dr. Johnathan David Hawk, the Chief Operations Officer at the Nevada State High School. The public is invited to attend the online meeting which takes place Tuesday, September 1st, at noon.
Nevada State High School serves 11th and 12th grade students by giving them an early start on a college education. The school, which has one location in Reno and several in the Las Vegas area, offers college classes and professors giving students a big head start on earning a degree. NSHS provides students with 2 years of college experience and also helps them learn how to excel in college and in their chosen careers.
“We thought our members would appreciate learning about this unique educational opportunity for their kids or grandchildren” said Rotarian Michael Pelham. “Since it’s tuition free, and students earn dual credits, it can really lower the price of getting a college degree. With college tuitions on the rise, it could be a great option.”
Anyone interested in attending the virtual meeting should email Peter Fishburn at pfishburn@charter.net for log in information.
The Rotary Club of Carson City was founded in 1938. The service organization funds numerous community programs benefiting young people including scholarships, music programs and grants for school projects. To learn more visit www.carsonrotary.org.
