Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest hires Teresa McClung as new deputy forest supervisor
SPARKS — The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest welcomes Teresa McClung as the Deputy Forest Supervisor. In her new position, McClung will provide oversight and management of resources on the Forest’s 6.3 million acres.
“I look forward to Teresa joining our team on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest,” said Forest Supervisor Bill Dunkelberger. “She brings a wealth of skills, knowledge, and experiences that lend themselves to providing support and leadership to the Forest.”
McClung has over 34 years of diverse experience with the U.S. Forest Service. She started her Forest Service career as a student Landscape Architect on the Siskiyou National Forest in southwestern Oregon in 1979. For the past two years, she has served as the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit Deputy Forest Supervisor in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
McClung’s other Forest Service positions included: Landscape Architect and Recreation Planner on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in northwestern Washington; Recreation Planner and NEPA Coordinator on the Cibola National Forest’s Sandia Ranger District in central New Mexico; Forest Plan Revision Team Leader on the Cibola National Forest and Grasslands; Branch Director of West Coast Operations for the U.S. Forest Service Recreation Solutions Enterprise Team in Vallejo, California; Resource Management Program Area Leader on the Stanislaus National Forest’s Calaveras Ranger District in California’s central Sierra Nevada; and District Ranger on the Calaveras Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.
Throughout her career, McClung also held numerous detailed positions including serving as Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest; Acting Pacific Southwest Region Deputy Director Ecosystem Management; Acting Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Shasta Trinity National Forest; and Acting Forest Supervisor on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. In addition to her federal career, Teresa has worked in private practice as a Landscape Architect and Urban Planner, owned her own consulting business, and taught at a community college.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the exceptional team on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. I look forward to getting to know the communities that this Forest serves and our partner agencies, organizations, and tribes that help us manage the largest national forest in the lower 48 states,” said McClung.
She replaces Jack Issacs who left the Deputy Forest Supervisor position for a Forest Supervisor position on the Nebraska National Forest and Grasslands located in Nebraska and South Dakota.
