Carson City sheriff gives more details on body found in Brunswick Canyon
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has released more details on a vehicle discovered early Friday afternoon by dirt bike riders in which a man, presumably being a person who has been missing since early December, was found dead.
At approximately 12:09 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was notified that a vehicle was located about 3-5 miles east of Carson City in the Pine Nut Range with a suspected deceased person inside of it.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded and were escorted by the reporting persons (outdoor motorcyclists) into the area where the vehicle was seen.
Once officers arrived, the SUV style of vehicle was determined to be associated with a missing person’s report out of Carson City on December 7, 2015.
The body of an adult male, approximately 50 years old, was located in the driver’s seat. A gun was located in the vehicle.
While the Sheriff’s Office awaits autopsy results and positive identification of the deceased person from the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office, close contact with the family of the missing person has already been established.

Carson City sheriff’s deputies were called Friday afternoon to the area of South Deer Run Road and Sedge Road where dirt bikers told dispatch they found a vehicle with a body inside and a window blown out.
Deputies were making their way through steep terrain into Brunswick canyon to get to the vehicle. There has been no official confirmation of a body as deputies had not arrived yet to the vehicle, said Carson City sheriff Ken Furlong. The license plate, however, returned to a vehicle belonging to a person who has been reported missing since December, said Furlong.
Brunswick Canyon is east of Carson City off of Deer Run Road.
