UNR application deadline reminder for incoming freshmen

As University of Nevada, Reno enrollment continues to grow, with the goal of reaching 22,000 students in the coming years, incoming freshmen are reminded that the application deadline was moved for the fall 2015 semester. The new freshman application deadline, announced last fall, is May 1, 2015. This deadline is up one month from last year.
“Since the decision to move the deadline was made, the University has actively worked with prospective students and high school counselors to keep them informed,” University Director of Admissions Steve Maples said.
“An earlier application deadline allows us to plan ahead and ensure new freshmen have access to classes, housing, orientation and other essential University programs and services,” University Vice President of Student Services Shannon Ellis said. “It is our intent to again move the deadline next year to April 1, 2016 for the fall 2016 freshmen class.”
In fall 2014, the University welcomed a record 19,934 undergraduate and graduate students to campus. Undergraduate student enrollment increased by 6.7 percent and freshmen accounted for 3,387 students, a 9.8 percent increase over the prior year.
“We continue to see strong interest in the University of Nevada, Reno from prospective students, even as we have increased admissions standards and established application deadlines in recent years,” Ellis said. “The University represents a high-quality, high-value educational opportunity in a friendly and vibrant campus setting.”
There are many aspects under consideration as the University’s campus continues to grow. Many of them are addressed in the University’s strategic and master plans, which guide the addition of faculty positions, improved faculty to student ratios and further development of campus infrastructure.
