Carson City man who reported text message threats arrested on felony child abuse warrant

A Carson City man who called authorities saying he was sent a threatening text message from a gang member, was arrested on a felony child abuse warrant.
According the the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Hot Springs Road on Jan. 20 after the man contacted authorities to report threats were being made.
Joseph A. Rodgers, 20, a self-employed DJ, showed officers text messages from an alleged gang member and thought they were threatening, according to the arrest report. When a background check was done on Rodgers, it was learned that he had a felony child abuse warrant and domestic battery warrant for his arrest.
The threatening text messages reported by Rodgers, were not consider threats by the arresting officer, according to the police report. Rodgers is being held on $15,000 bond.
In unrelated matters:
— A Carson City man was arrested after allegedly strangling his girlfriend after the two had an argument over text messages.
Inti Hernandez, 30, a music teacher according to the booking report, was arrested in the 3000 block of North Roop Street early Sunday morning after police investigated the matter in which they found physical signs of abuse on the victim.
According to the arrest report, the victim, who would later become uncooperative with police, said she and Hernandez got into two separate arguments, one being over text messages. She told authorities an argument escalated after Hernandez saw that she was texting a man. He began yelling at her, attempted to kiss her and she slapped him in the face, according to the arrest report.
The victim told authorities that after she slapped Hernandez, he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her to the ground. She said that she was chased by him and tried to lock herself in a bathroom, but was injured when her arm got caught in the door.
Officers found red marks on the woman's neck and bloody scratch marks on her left forearm which were consistent to the initial statements she made. However, the victim declined to fill out a witness statement or allow officers to take photos of the injuries.
Officers made the arrest based on suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation. Also, the Parole and Probation department requested a hold be placed on Hernandez because he's on probation on another matter, the arrest report stated.
As Hernandez was being transported to jail, he slipped out of his handcuffs and told the arresting officer he was going to run. The officer pulled over the patrol car and called for backup. He was re-handcuffed without incident, according to the arrest report.
