Carson City 4-H leads 6th annual PJ Drive for Kids in Foster Care
Since 2018, the Carson City 4-H PJ Drive for Kids in Foster Care has been collecting and donating pajamas to the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Kids’ Closet. We started the Drive to give our little ones a chance to give back to their community in a way that is meaningful them, through giving a cozy pair of pajamas to another child.
New pajamas of all styles and sizes are accepted. There is a special need for adult sizes for teens. Pajamas are delivered right before Christmas and immediately start going to kids through their CASAs and foster parents, or by visiting the Closet and picking a pair themselves.
The Drive has grown a lot, thanks to our many partners.
2018: 20 pairs
2019: 33 pairs
2020: 108 pairs
2021: 236 pairs
2022: 374 pairs
2023: ?
Special recognition goes to Alisa Andrews at Charles Kitchen Realty for becoming our first community supporter in 2020 and bringing in a significant number of the PJs collected every year since.
Through Alisa, we connected with Summer Anderson at the Mix Nutrition to host another collection bin. Since then, we have added additional collection locations every year. Last year, the Carson City 4-H Leader Council donated 12 duffle bags to organize and deliver the PJs.
This year we will be collecting pajamas until Wednesday, Dec. 13. We currently have collection bins at the following locations in Carson City:
UNR Cooperative Extension Office
Charles Kitchen Realty
The Mix Nutrition
Cal Ranch
Tractor Supply Company
Just Brew It
Scoup’s
Grocery Outlet
Carson City Library
Ogres-Holm Pottery
We deeply appreciate all the support we have received for this effort and can’t wait to see what 2023 will bring! Thank you!
