Carson City golf tournament update: Jim Sapien wears the Silver Oak crown
Jim Sapien is the 2020 Sunday Men’s Club champion at Silver Oak Golf Course in Carson City. Sapien fired a 74-75 to best Dan Wilson by four strokes (77-76) during the two-day club championship Aug. 22-23. Brian Sweet (74-80) and Michael Moriarty (79-75) tied for third, while Scott Lusty was the low net (after handicap is applied) champion over the field with 141.
In the first flight net, Jim Shabi led the way with 142. Sweet was second with 144, Sapien was third with 145, and Dennis Baughman and Wilson tied for fourth with 147.
In the second flight (players with higher handicaps), Eric Fujita won with a low net of 142, while Paul Jorgensen, William Kapczynski and Steve McIntyre tied for second with 145.
In the third flight, Lusty shot the low net 141. Bryce Nolan and Jordan Payette tied for second with 145, followed by Chris Wood with 148 and Charles Ransom with 149.
The Sunday Men's Club season runs every Sunday through Oct. 25 at Silver Oak Golf Course and features weekly games with three flights based on handicap and optional gross and net skins games.

Members of the men’s club receive reduced green fees, range balls every Sunday, Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) service for the year, lunches and awards banquet if health precautions permit, prizes, trophies, and access to a web portal to view events and scores each week.
