Virginia Truckee Railroad rides from Virginia City happening over July 4 weekend
Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with a historic steam train ride from Virginia City to Gold Hill in our beautifully restored outdoor cars with social distancing, powered by 100-year-old heritage locomotives.
Round trip fares are $12 diesel and $14 for steam. The holiday trains run July 3-5.
Ride into the past aboard Nevada’s scenic and historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad from Virginia City to Gold Hill and back. By far the most famous of all American short lines, the ornate V&T trains hosted U.S. presidents and foreign dignitaries in their heyday.
The Virginia Truckee Railroad, completed in 1869, also hauled millions of dollars in gold and silver ore from the mines of the Comstock. Today, the railroad operates 100-year-old steam engines and heritage diesel locomotives, departing from the original 1870 depot at 166 F Street.
The conductor-narrated excursions roll by some of the most famous mines and ruins. You may even see wild horses run alongside the tracks.
