Dogs get their green on Saturday for CASI benefit 5K run in Carson City

Dogs and their humans gathered Saturday morning in the cold at Silver Strike Cross Fit to run a 5K around Centennial Park in East Carson City.

Carson City Photo Club announces monthly photo contest winners

Winners of the Carson City Photo Club's monthly photo contest were announced Friday.

First place was awarded to Monique Giron for her piece entitled "Mom." In second place was Trent Pitsenbarger for his work titled "The Queen of the Short Line."

Third place was awarded to Anke Simpson for "Spencer's Cabin," and the President's Choice went to Cathy Carney for "Yamaha."

Tazmanian Boxing debuts Carson City youth at recent USA Boxing event

Tazmanian Boxing Club in Carson City debuted two youth boxers at a USA Boxing event in Reno recently. Alfredo Carrasco Jr., and Jose Bedoy, got a chance to debut their boxing skills. Both displayed a lot of heart, skill and integrity, according to their trainers.

With heavy snow in the higher elevations, predator are coming closer into Carson City neighborhoods to find food.

"These were taken right out of my bedroom window last week," Burnaugh wrote. "I was approximately 5-7 feet from the cat through the window."

Three Carson City art students named 2019 Scholastic Art Award winners

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Museum of Art announced the 2019 Scholastic Art Award Winners, and on the list were a senior and junior from Carson High and one seventh-grader from Carson Middle School. Emily Richardson, 17-years-old, Sarah Woods, 17-years-old, Keira Serpa, 13-years-old, were all recognized as Gold Key winners.

This snowman was spotted on the corner of Combs Canyon and Lakeview Road on Monday morning. It looks to be about 16-feet tall with spooky eyes that appear to be 6-inch reflectors.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP program, based in Carson City, is collecting items for homeless veterans and veterans in need as part of the 2019 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

The presenter, Scott Williams (PT, OCS) and FMS Level 2 certified is the owner and trainer at Synergy Therapeutics located in Truckee, California.

He will explain the FMS (Functional Movement Screen) body assessment system and how it can be used to influence and maximize your outcomes during your fitness journey. Scott earned his Masters in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco in 1992.
