Owl family and other birds spotted during Mexican Dam hike

Many outdoor enthusiasts who've taken regular hikes in the area know there's family of owls that make their home in the same tree every year. I've seen as many as three baby owls peering down at me. I'm happy to say they are back again.
Sierra-Tahoe Unit No. 137 Fleet Reserve delivers Easter egg hunt to Marine base children
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 04/10/2021 - 11:03amThe Sierra-Tahoe Auxiliary Unit #137 of the Fleet Reserve Association has historically provided an Easter Egg Hunt for the children at the USMC Winter Warfare base in Bridgeport, Calif.
This year due to the pandemic the Branch/Unit was unable to actually be at the housing complex but still were able to stuff 800 eggs filled with small toys, stickers, and candy, provide small stuffed animals and yoyos, and toys too large to fit in an egg and deliver them to a base community staff member (Jessie).
Carson City again honored as best place to retire

So, if you’ve recently retired here, pat yourself on the back. You’ve made a great choice. Those of us growing up here or living here for a while always knew that so we get a double pat.
Bullseye! Carson City's Fritsch Elementary School archery team wins state

The achievement brought the State Title, trophy and honor home to Carson City for the first time in program history.

However, some of the programs and facilities such as the swimming pool, sporting teams, and Camp Carson simply cannot function without the important safety requirements facilitated by the life blood of these programs: The lifeguards, coaches and camp counselors.
Spring and Summer events in Carson City are being tentatively planned, dependent on lifting COVID restrictions

With restrictions loosened on Feb. 15 in a “safe reopening” effort through May 1, regional event coordinators have begun to plan 2021 entertainment in anticipation of lifted regulations.
