Diving into the Arts is a partnership between the Brewery Arts Center and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.

Come soak up some sun at the “Cowboys & Cowgirls” performance during Carson City’s twenty-eighth annual Pops Party on Sunday, June 10, located at the Governor’s Mansion at 3 P.M. The “Cowboys & Cowgirls” program will feature classic western tunes performed by The Carson City Symphony and Chamber Singers, and Strings of the Schools youth orchestra.

North Lake Tahoe takes its music outdoors with a variety of live concerts, festivals and headliner events – all part of the destination’s High Notes: North Lake Tahoe Summerlong Music series, running June through September. The lake’s live music campaign also has a designated website that covers all the free events and ticketed performances.

CVCT's new production of Holka Polka is a children's play, written by D.M. Larson, about the nicest witch in Fairytale Land, who embarks on a journey to save all the witches' reputations by saving the Prince. Along the way whe meets some familiar and misunderstood fairytale characters and she also comes to find that an historically sweet and loving character is really evil. This is a wonderful family show that will appeal to any age group. The play is directed by Gardnerville's own Riley Cooper.

High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance party June 23 at the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St., Carson City. There will be a lesson at 7 p.m., with the social dance at 8-10:30 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers. Join the club that night, and the dance is free. It might have looked very much like the work of Michael Holcomb, an artist whose images are on view at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center Gallery West, May 14th through June 22nd.

“Twelve Angry Men”

On Saturday, May 12, Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools will hold a Latin Music Workshop and concert at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City. Led by Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch and guest percussionists Liz White, Kevin Conlin, and Gerald Larson from the University of Nevada, Reno, the workshop is open to string players of all ages at no cost. The First United Methodist Church’s Readers’ Theater will present a reading of "Mother Courage and Her Children," on May 11, 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Carson City, NW corner of Division and Musser Streets. This drama was written by the German playwright Bertold Brecht in 1939 when Brecht lived in exile in the United States.

No, I can't dance, but you can come watch and laugh as I try tomorrow night at the “Local Celebrities Who Think They Can Dance” event at the Carson Nugget.

The event is put on by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club, and involves getting some local "celebrities" to compete in a mini "Dancing with the Stars"-style contest. If you are the betting type, I'd put my money on Sheriff Kenny Furlong to win.

The Tintabulations Handbell Choir will be performing at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 28th for a 2:00 p.m. performance! Their selections will include nocturnal motifs and several well-known pieces from Disney movies. This is free performance and all ages are welcome!
