January 28, 2024 (All day) Carson Now reader Laura Wiggins said she saw "these two bald eagles keeping their eyes on us as we teed off at Sunridge Golf Course" south of Carson City in Douglas County. In the second photo, Carson Now reader Stella C captured a single bald eagle at Riverview Park in Carson City.
Carson City area weather: Valley rain and Sierra snow ahead this week

Sunshine and warm spring-like temperatures will continue for Carson City and surrounding counties into the midweek, with a shift expected to bring gusty winds, valley rain and Sierra snow into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Low-lying fog

I take my dog for a walk every morning, right before the sun comes up, and the other day I saw an unusual sight so I went back and got my camera. There was a low-lying fog on the ground all around where I lived. It covered the part of Dayton where the golf course is and the schools. It covered the area where the old section of town is, it was all around me, but it wasn’t where I was standing (near Pioneer Crossing Casino)… and it never did come into my area. I’ve lived here 13 years and I’ve never seen that before.
Carson City Sheriff: Teen dies in pedestrian crash involving vehicle on North Carson Street

UPDATE: 8:58PM: A 14-year old Carson City female pedestrian died at the scene of a vehicle crash Sunday night on North Carson Street, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
The girl was struck in the 3100 block of North Carson and East Nye Lane at around 5:40 p.m. At arrival, CCSO deputies began administering life-saving medical attention. However, upon the arrival of fire, paramedic units the teen was declared deceased at the scene.

An earthquake at 4:03 p.m. Sunday afternoon with a magnitude of 3.7, was recorded south of Reno near Virginia City by the Nevada Seismological Laboratory and the U.S. Geological Survey.

On Saturdays at 9 p.m. KNVC Carson City community radio 95.1 will feature Angela Wheeler’s new show, “What Have You.” Angela, aka “Kitschy Mama,” runs an eclectic, punk-focused show. The music features a range of unique 60’s obscura — high energy rock, blues, jazz, samba, old advertisements, and TV moments.
