Carson City area casinos celebrated the holidays with a double-digit increase in gambling generated revenue, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board in its December 2023 report released Wednesday.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies and fire department paramedics were called Wednesday afternoon to an incident involving a woman at Northgate and Hot Springs Road that was determined to be a fall after first responders arrived.

Gusty winds have picked up around Carson City and surrounding counties Wednesday morning as a winter storm is expected to bring valley rain and Sierra snow through Friday. A larger and wetter system is expected Sunday and Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
