The local chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be holding a dinner event at Dayton Valley Country Club, 101 Palmer Drive in Dayton, on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 10 p.m.

The Associated Students of Western Nevada (ASWN) began welcoming back its student body for Fall 2018 on Thursday, Aug. 30 with a barbecue introducing new Western Nevada College President, Dr. Vincent Solis.

Car keys found at Carson City Fair, call the Cooperative Extension office to claim them

A set of car keys and pair of glasses were found at the Carson City Fair which was held at Fuji Park in July 2018. Both are unclaimed and are at the Cooperative Extension office in Carson City. If the car keys are yours, please call and identify the item on the key chain to claim them. Our phone number is 775-887-2252 and our office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Single-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 at Clearview Drive

Carson City emergency crews are responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash into the center median guardrail of the Interstate 580 southbound lane at the Clearview Drive underpass.

Law enforcement is on scene providing traffic control at the scene of the crash. No reports of any injuries. Motorists in the area can expect slow going until the accident is cleared.

Retired Carson High teacher, coach raising money to fight breast cancer

Terry Hogan, a retired physical education and science teacher and coach at Carson High School, will be running in the Reno 10 Miler race Sept. 9 to raise money for breast cancer research.

Carson City man arrested after calling police on man who 'kept giving him looks'

A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday evening in the 1900 block of N. Fall Street on Tahoe Township traffic warrants after deputies responded to a call regarding possible threats.

CARSON CITY — Florence Phillips is 88 years old, and has dedicated the last 15 years to helping people in our community learn English and even become citizens. Because of her hard work, and the work of her tutors and students, the ESL In-Home Program of Northern Nevada was nominated by CNN Heroes.
