Nevada governor meets with Ghanaian President, concludes first leg of African trade mission

Submitted by editor on Mon, 07/30/2018 - 11:58amIldemaro Vargas’ weekend brings new meaning to “short stop.” The shortstop’s historic year with the Reno Aces was interrupted briefly on Friday when he was promoted to the Aces’ parent club, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Vargas suited up for Saturday’s game in San Diego against the Padres, but he did not play. After the contest, Vargas was sent back down to Reno. It was his second big-league call-up.

The summer’s wildfire season just seems to be getting worse. As the smoky air settles in the valley, you’ll need to be much more cautious about your outdoor activity. Let Chili’s take care of dinner tonight, it’s too hot to cook anyway, and you’ll be helping the Northern Nevada Dream Center raise funds to assist those less fortunate. Kids can beat the heat at the Carson City Library with the Happy Notes program, just make sure you register first: space is limited.
