Boy Scout's Pinewood Derby: now for adults who want to relive their childhood

Scouting’s Pinewood Derby is all grown up these days and now has added the Grand Prix of Scouting to its lineup of events. The Grand Prix of Scouting is for adults who never lost that itch for competition and speed!

Save the date of Friday, September 21 for the Grand Prix of Scouting to race at the Peppermill Resort & Casino starting at 5:30 p.m.

Family Fun Saturday: Musical Instruments

Nevada has a very musical past. When people move here they bring their own music and when Virginia City was booming musical acts traveled here to perform.

Now we get a wide variety of musical performances in and around Carson City. Come to the Nevada State Museum to make musical instruments out of common everyday objects to take home on Saturday, August 11. The program will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: $8 for adults; members and kids age 17 and under free.
