October 16, 2018 - 5:00pm The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. CCAI will host an exhibition reception on Friday, August 17, 5-7pm in the Sierra Room.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Auditions

August 15, 2018 - 6:00pm AUDITIONS! Piper’s Players, a community theater based in Virginia City, Nevada, is holding auditions for this year's production of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Auditions will be held at Piper’s Opera House (12 B Street) on August 15 and 16 from 6p.m. – 8p.m. (Bring water – it’s a historical building.) Callbacks will be on August 20, between 6pm and 8pm.
Performances will be December 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, 2018 at Piper's Opera House.
What do you need to audition?
Music: Be ready to sing for up to a minute.

UPDATE: The Storey County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is asking for the public's help to assist them in supporting one of their deputy's children, Jonathan and Kaitlyn Francone of Carson City, who were injured in a fatal car crash near the Oregon-California state border.
Casting Call: Casino themed TV show pilot with Joe Piscopo to be filmed at Carson Nugget

CARSON CITY — A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.
Reports: Wild horses rounded up in Dayton area

Horse advocates in the Dayton area say there was a Bureau of Land Management roundup that happened Tuesday off of Dayton Valley Road. According to a number of people on the Facebook social media page Dayton Nevada News and Information, the roundup involves several horses the advocates say were put into pens.
Report: Climate change is making Lake Tahoe warmer, adding stress to the ecosystem

In an annual report released this week, U.C. Davis researchers found that climate change is adding new pressure to the Lake Tahoe ecosystem. The “State of the Lake Report” found that surface temperatures in July 2017 were the warmest on record, more than 6 degrees hotter than recordings from 2016, a trend likely to continue as air temperatures are predicted to rise.
Carson City detectives ask for public's help locating missing woman

Carson City Sheriff’s Office investigators have asked for the public’s help locating a 42-year-old local woman reported missing by her family.
