Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 07/31/2018 - 8:40pmThe Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. CCAI will host an exhibition reception on Friday, August 17, 5-7pm in the Sierra Room.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Auditions
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 07/31/2018 - 8:16pmAUDITIONS! Piper’s Players, a community theater based in Virginia City, Nevada, is holding auditions for this year's production of “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
Auditions will be held at Piper’s Opera House (12 B Street) on August 15 and 16 from 6p.m. – 8p.m. (Bring water – it’s a historical building.) Callbacks will be on August 20, between 6pm and 8pm.
Performances will be December 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16, 2018 at Piper's Opera House.
What do you need to audition?
Music: Be ready to sing for up to a minute.

Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.
Reports: Wild horses rounded up in Dayton area

According to a number of people on the Facebook social media page Dayton Nevada News and Information, the roundup involves several horses the advocates say were put into pens.
Report: Climate change is making Lake Tahoe warmer, adding stress to the ecosystem

The “State of the Lake Report” found that surface temperatures in July 2017 were the warmest on record, more than 6 degrees hotter than recordings from 2016, a trend likely to continue as air temperatures are predicted to rise.
