Visitors Bureau, BAC team up to show acclaimed street musician film 'Find Your Way'

Leading up to the showing, performers will be taking to the streets of Carson City to showcase their talent and promote the film.
Chamber Singers, Carson City Symphony Chorus begin season rehearsals
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/31/2014 - 9:13pmThe Carson Chamber Singers and Carson City Symphony Chorus, conducted by Michael Langham, are beginning their 2014-15 season. Carson Chamber Singers were founded in 1985 as the select choral group of the Carson City Symphony.
They perform several concerts each year and have sung throughout the area. They sing regularly with the Carson City Symphony and have performed in several concerts with the Reno Philharmonic Chorus and Orchestra.
Super full moon hike Sept. 8 at Washoe Lake State Park

This is an easy one mile round-trip hike north of Carson City to the gazebo on the Deadman’s Creek trail at the start of the third "Super Moon" of the year.
Holiday weekend thus far results in several misdemeanor, handful of felony arrests
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 08/31/2014 - 4:45pmA 61-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor DUI charge after allegedly driving his Dodge Ram through the yard of a Mayflower Way home on Friday afternoon, breaking a fence and crashing into an unoccupied Jeep, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers were called to the residence and made contact with the driver of the pickup. The man said he was OK and told the officer that he had nothing to do with the accident. The man was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was flipped on its side.
Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through Sept. 7

Crews will be striping roadways throughout the city weekdays between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Minor delays are expected on roadways that are being striped while the work occurs.
Nevada public safety, health and governor partner for National Preparedness Month

The Nevada Division of Emergency Management/Homeland Security, and the Division of Public and Behavioral Health urges Nevadans to prepare for an emergency that would require self-reliance for three days without utilities and electricity, water service, access to a supermarket or local services, household medical needs, and possibly without response from police, fire or rescue.
Weather Service: Hazy skies from fires in Northern California, Oregon
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 08/31/2014 - 1:00pmThe National Weather Service in Reno reports on its Facebook page Sunday that hazy conditions have developed throughout the region, from Dayton, Fallon and Pyramid Lake. Carson City is experiencing blue skies.
"After looking at visible satellite and making some phone calls, we believe that it is smoke from fires in Northern California and Oregon. Sierra Front is not reporting any incidents in Nevada at this time," according to the weather service Facebook page.
Fireworks tonight in South Lake Tahoe

The show features a simultaneous music broadcast that can be heard on local stations KRLT-FM 93.9 and KOWL - AM 1490. Show begins at 8:30 p.m. The fireworks are visible from all over town.
Senator Square: Full speed ahead with 2,117 students enrolled at Carson High

We had an exciting week at CHS including a video message from our rivals from Douglas High School. Their staff challenged our staff to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. More than 50 CHS teachers and staff showed up for the challenge, as we could never let the Tigers out-do us.
