Kingsbury Grade reopened, firefighters make significant progress on wildfire

UPDATE: 6:40: Fire crews and aircraft have halted the forward advancement of a wildland fire Wednesday night off Kingsbury Grade in Douglas County. Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, the Nevada Division of Forestry, and local fire districts, including East Fork, Tahoe Douglas, Lake Valley, and South Lake Tahoe responded to the Kingsbury Fire.
WNC Announces 2014 Summer Dean’s List

“Always Lost, A Meditation on War,” the nationally touring humanities exhibition created by WNC students and faculty, opened Monday at the historic Minden Inn, 1594 Esmeralda Ave., and remains through Friday, Sept. 12.

NAI Alliance Carson City Open House Today

The open house runs from 4 to 7 p.m. This will be a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. The ribbon cutting is at 5:30 p.m.
NIA Alliance is asking for donations for the club in lieu of any flowers or gifts. The event is at 504 Musser Street in Carson City.

Carson City runaway teen found safe
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 08/27/2014 - 9:37amA 14-year-old Carson City teen who was reported as a runaway earlier this month has been located, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detective Steve Olson.
The juvenile had not been seen since Aug. 19, when she left her Hot Springs Road home and failed to show up for school. She has since been found and is safe, said Olson.
