Cement truck overturns in Carson City blocking traffic on Fairview near I-580 ramp

A cement truck overturned Monday morning blocking westbound traffic on Fairview and the I-580 off ramp in Carson CIty.

The driver of the truck was injured and will be transported via Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
The accident, reported at around 8:40 a.m. is blocking the westbound and eastbound lanes of traffic.

The cement truck is spilling fuel and other liquid onto the roadway, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office personnel on the scene.

NCJFCJ receives $2 million for Juvenile Drug Court Training

(Reno, Nev.) The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) received a three-year $2 million grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) for the Juvenile Drug Court Training and Technical Assistance Program.

Woman attempts to rob Carson City Burger King and nearby 7-Eleven

UPDATE: A woman described as white, heavy set and wearing a black puffy jacket with a hood attempted to rob the 7-Eleven on Carson Street near College Parkway and a few minutes later attempted to rob a nearby Burger King in Carson City on Sunday night. The woman remains at large, confirmed Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Orphaned bear cub captured Sunday in Verdi

An orphaned male bear cub in Verdi that has eluded the Nevada Department of Wildlife since Friday was captured early Sunday morning in Verdi. The 30-pound black bear was caught in a culvert trap placed near the area where its mother and another cub were hit and killed by a car on the old Highway 40 near the intersection with Bridge Street in Verdi. The carcass of its dead mother was used as bait to lure the cub to the trap.

The Sierra Nevada Ballet will present the popular “Peanutcracker – The Story in Nut Shell” on December 6 and 7 in Carson City and December 17 in Reno.
