Crime Log: Woman arrested for filing false report

A 22-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday evening for filing a false police report.

According to the arrest report, the woman claimed her boyfriend and his brother came to her residence and cut her legs several times with a box cutter. Though the reporting party did have cuts on her legs, she also has a history of mental health issues that include cutting herself and blaming others. Because of her prior history of making false claims, she was arrested for misdemeanor filing a false police report. Her bail was set at $500 plus fees.

First come, first served big game tags available

Hunters who did not draw a mule deer tag in Nevada’s recently completed second draw still have a chance to go hunting this fall.

Results of the second draw were provided Friday, July 19, along with information on remaining tags. All remaining tags will be sold on a first come, first served basis, beginning Friday, July 26.

Mule deer hunters will find tags remaining in several hunt categories and units.

65 tags are available for the Resident Mule Deer Antlerless Any Legal Weapon Hunt (Hunt 1181) in hunt units 101, 102, 109.

Don Q Outdoors: Go high to have fun, fish and stay cool

Sigh, it’s that time of the year again.

This is my annual reminder that if you’re someone like me, summer’s sweltering heat is not much fun. I do not like summer months.

I am an outdoors person who dearly loves the cold, frost, ice and snow of winter, and I absolutely and totally wilt at this time of the year.

And, especially, right now, with our record-setting temps in triple digits.
I am miserable and grouchy during hot weather months.

To be honest, I dislike the weather anytime it gets past 80-85 degrees.
