Non-profit Black Rock Solar builds 3 MW of clean energy

Just in time for Independence Day, Reno-based non-profit Black Rock Solar has reached the milestone of building 3 megawatts of solar power capacity across the state of Nevada. That’s 3 megawatts of clean, renewable energy fostering freedom from fossil fuels and building a self-reliant nation independent of environmentally hazardous power-production methods.
Carson City Parks and Recreation steps it up for month of July

With warm temperatures and long daylight hours, summer is a great time to explore your city’s parks and trails, try a new recreation activity, or relax and enjoy a show. The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department has developed a calendar of events and is offering many options for free.

Joey was born in Oneida, KY and raised in Winchester, KY. and he has the accent to prove it.
July 14th features Joey Carmon: "Guitar Man" Tribute show to Jerry Reed. Bring a picnic and a blanket to Genoa Town Park and enjoy an evening of free music!
Carson City Sheriff's Office warns of check, money order scams

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of victims selling products using online programs, such as Craigslist, being contacted by an unknown buyer who sends a check or money order for an amount over the asking price.
Winners announced for Women to Women Nevada June contest

Women to Women Nevada with host Carol Paz offered June viewers a simple contest where the winners would get some really nice prizes.
It being July 1, that means winners for the June contest were picked today. The contest was easy. A number between 1 and 500 was selected prior to the launch of the contest. Entries had to guess what the number was to win.
Carson City Library presents 'Making of a Cello' performance, talk July 11

The Carson City Symphony Association and the Carson City Library present a talk and demonstration on "The Making of a Cello" by Symphony cellist Becky Crowe on Thursday, July 11, 6 to 8 p.m., in the auditorium of the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street in Carson City.
The talk is appropriate for all ages, and admission is free.
Reno Marine to run 70 miles to help raise funds for other veterans

The former U.S. Marine of 29 years is set to run 70 miles, from Coleville, Calif., to Virginia City, beginning Tuesday to raise money for the Marsoc Wounded Warrior Foundation, which supports U.S. veterans. The run, part of the “Miles for Marsoc” campaign, begins Tuesday and is scheduled to end Wednesday.
Padilla, 49, of Cold Springs will be running by himself for the first 50 miles and expects to be joined by two other runners toward the end of the run.
Carson City officers arrest three on felony charges Sunday; man jailed for alleged credit card theft

Jack Michael Bell is being held on $7,500 bond in the Carson City Jail. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Fairview Drive in reference to a fraud report.
The victim advised she discovered that her Chase Bank debit card was missing two days ago and she said she suspected her roommate and boyfriend, Jack Michael Bell, took her debit card, the arrest report states.
Carson City Sheriff's Office issues four alcohol-related citations Saturday
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/01/2013 - 9:06amTwo individuals and two servers were issued citations Saturday as part of efforts by the Carson City Sheriff's Office to stop the sale of alcohol to minors.
A "shoulder tap" operation was conducted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Saturday where individuals were asked by a person in decoy to purchase alcohol for him or her. The "decoy" informed those asked that he/she was underage and could not purchase the alcohol. The decoy was assisted by two Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies who oversaw the operation.
New laws set to take effect Monday, July 1 in Nevada

Nevada’s anti-sex trafficking policies will be strengthened, driver’s privilege cards for people in the country illegally will be allowed and the process of readying state law enforcement to collect DNA from everyone arrested on felony charges will begin.
