Carson City felony arrests include probation violation; battery by a prisoner
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/02/2013 - 11:37amA 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning and faces a felony charge of being in violation of conditions set in his parole and probation.
Brian Angel-Ramirez is being held without bail until a court hearing. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, deputies were sent to the area of Goni and Arrowhead at 11:31 p.m. in reference to a person passed out in the roadway.
North Lake Tahoe firefighters douse early morning brush fire
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/02/2013 - 10:47amNorth Lake Fire Protection District personnel responded to a brush fire at 3:17 a.m. Tuesday at 400 Fairview Blvd., in Incline Village. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, containing it to approximately a half-acre in size.
The cause is under investigation. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact Assistant Fire Marshal, Mark Regan at 775-461-6200. The next door neighbor’s defensible space supported the suppression efforts with proper vegetation clearance and management.
Susan Haas Named director, CEO of Retired Senior Volunteer Program

Haas began work with the RSVP, based in Carson City, in 2007 as program director after serving for 8 years as Deputy Chief of Staff for Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt.
In 2012 she was promoted to Director of Marketing and Development.
Senators Reid, Heller introduce Douglas County Lands Bill

Carson City woman faces charge of battery with sexual assault

Brandi Mary Diann Chapin, is being held on $100,000 bail. Carson City authorities learned of the warrant Monday through Carson City Justice Court.
Comstock Classic of Virginia City, 1st Annual Car Show

Nevada leads the way as U.S. home prices rise in May

Sierra Nevada Cancer Center is a state-of-the-art oncology and hematology facility now offering treatment in five locations including Carson City, Fallon, Gardnerville and Sparks. The South Lake Tahoe facility will expand the reach of Sierra Nevada Cancer Center making cancer treatment more convenient and closer to home for those living at the Lake.
