This Thursday, August 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., Bella Fiore Wines in Carson City will hold a wine tasting event, featuring Nevada City Winery.

A winery representative will guide you as she presents each wine with descriptions and information about the winemaking processes and more.

The cost is ONLY $15 per person and this includes four or more wines, and hors d'oeuvres such as meats, cheeses, fruit & crackers. Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase.

I attended a meeting of the Sagebrush Ecosystem Council July 30 (my third) in Carson City. Like a lot of things that go on in government, few readers will have heard of the council.

It was set up late last year by Gov. Sandoval in an effort to forestall the feds' putting the sage grouse on the endangered species list, a measure that would declare large swaths of Nevada off limits to business and recreation.

The Legislature earmarked $304 million to fund the council.

Carson City will be featured on the C-SPAN network's two channels this weekend after their visit to the capital city earlier this month.

In addition to having feature stories sprinkled in throughout the weekend on the respective networks, both American History TV and Book TV, there will be a block of programming where all of the respective Carson City pieces for their networks will air, said C-SPAN spokeswoman Laura Finch.

A Carson City man was jailed early Tuesday morning following a domestic battery in which he allegedly prevented the victim from reporting the crime.

Amalio Pedro Montanes, 25, was arrested in the 3300 block of Pontius Place at 1:26 a.m. According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence on a welfare check after dispatch received a call from a woman who gave an address and then disconnected.

Upon arrival officers met with the victim who stated she was upset with her boyfriend, identified a Montanes. The victim said he had come home drunk and wanted him to leave.
