Nevada State Parks meetings to discuss money for trail systems available through grant

Recently we took a trip to Flathead Lake, Montana to visit friends. While there, we experienced an influx of large (almost 3/4-inch) nasty-looking bugs that descended upon us, literally, every afternoon. There were dozens on the deck, the railings, and any other surface available.

On September 27, 2022 at approximately 8:47 p.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to 100 block of King Court in Fernley for a missing person report. The family of Buddy Yoscovitch, 45, reported he had left home on Sept. 23, 2022 and had not returned home.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, at approximately 6:00 pm, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling U.S. Highway 395 in Gardnerville when they conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a silver Mercedes-Benz for a registration violation.

The Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team fall prescribed fire program may begin as early as Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022. Conditions and weather permitting, California State Parks is scheduled to conduct understory burning on approximately 21 acres in Sugar Pine Point State Park on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore.

The Carson City Park Rangers offer various Ranger-Led programs each month that include educational opportunities, historical fun, and exciting adventures. Programs are offered for free and all you have to do is register online.

The American Association of University Women, Capital Branch, will feature an in-person presentation Tuesday by Ian Smith from Braver Angels, a nonprofit organization dedicated to political depolarization. All are welcome.

Carolynn Chamlee of Silver Springs, a member of Battle Born Stockton Well Grange #29 in Northern Lyon County, has been selected as a participant in this year’s National Grange Communication Fellows Program during the 156th Annual Session of the National Grange in Sparks, Nev. this November.
