Gardnerville's Main Street Fall Fest is back and better than ever
Gardnerville hosts their Main Street Fall Fest every year at Heritage Park, to offer families to come together to celebrate the beginning of fall.
This year, on Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., participants were having a blast walking around with their freshly built scarecrows while listening to the live entertainment, Mo'z Motley Blues, playing in the background.
Karen Smith, one of the vendors at the event, said she’s been working at this event and coming every year for about four years.
“It gets better every year,” Smith said. “There are food trucks, vendors and more and it’s a really great, fun family event.”
Smith runs a little tent where she handcrafts little knick-knacks with her sister-in-law, while her husband carves wooden pieces to sell during the event.
The three of them have been doing this together since their retirement and they love it.
“It sure beats working,” Smith said with a laugh. The three of them also do about 4 shows with their mini post-retirement business and they all enjoy every place they get to attend to put their stuff on display.
During the rest of the event, there are plenty of places like Smith’s tent to shop from and get souvenirs from at the festival. There are also plenty of food trucks, giving families plenty of options to choose from.
Everywhere participants walked there were also creatively-made scarecrows and coffins on display during and after the races.
This Garnerville classic festival is a great place to enjoy family time and celebrate the fall season in a cool afternoon for free.
