Nevada State Parks meetings to discuss money for trail systems available through grant

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page notified the Board of Commissioners of his intent to retire on Sept. 19, 2022.

Page has served as County Manager since June of 2010. Page has been with Lyon County since 1985 starting as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Page worked for the Sheriff’s Office and held a variety of positions until he left in 2006 as a Captain.

Nevada’s State Legislature continues to provide Nevada high school seniors with an opportunity of a lifetime.
The legislature has funding available through the Nevada Promise Scholarship to cover tuition and other mandatory fees not met by federal or state, amounting to a savings of more than $3,000 per year.

A program about the history and local impact of the Sutro Tunnel will be presented free to members of the Carson City Historical Society and the public on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Carriage House by Chris Pattison, project manager for the Friends of Sutro Tunnel, an organization that is working to restore the site as historically accurate as possible. Chris is also a board member for the Society.

Six years ago, wanting to create an event and space to help celebrate LGBTQ equality, the owners of Sassafras, Tony Fish and Jayme Watts, started the Sassabration, a diversity fundraiser to help support the PFLAG Carson Region, The Ron Wood Family Resource Center and the Carson Animal Services Initiative.

Just before 6 a.m. Saturday morning, deputies and first responders were dispatched to College Parkway on report of a vehicle versus pedestrian.

The crash was deemed to be fatal at the scene.

College Parkway was shut down in both directions as an investigation took place.
