Tuesday, Nov. 8: Things to do in Carson City on Election Day

Red, blue, left, right: today is Election Day. I would be remiss if I didn’t urge you to do your civic duty.All Carson City voters can choose between the Community Center or the Courthouse any time before 7 p.m. If you need to get away from it all, Muscle Powered leads a walk along the Linear Ditch Trail this afternoon. Comma Coffee welcomes the Mile High Jazz Band: Election Day Jazz with vocalist Jakki Ford is the perfect way to spend a Tuesday night.

TUESDAY:

• Election Day: All Registered Carson City Voters can choose between the County Courthouse: 885 E Musser, First Floor OR the Carson City Community Center Gym (7am-7pm: Jump Around Carson (JAC) will offer free transportation on fixed route buses. Direct service to the Community Center voting location is provided by Routes 1 and 2B)
• ‘521 Days’ by Reno artist Wes Lee in the Western Nevada College Main Gallery in the Bristlecone Building (8am-9pm)
• ‘Pocket Ziggurat’ a solo exhibition by artist by artist Chelsea Pegram at the CCAI Gallery in the Courthouse: 885 E. Musser (8am-5pm)
• Photographer Dean Burton’s exhibit “Calotypes” in the OXS Gallery at the Nevada Arts Council: 716 N. Carson St. (8am-5pm)
• Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring artists Mike and Pam Black with Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
• High School Pic[ks] 1, group show of art by area high school in the Community Development building [formerly the BRIC]: 108 E Proctor St (8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm; Artist Reception 5:30pm-7pm)
• Carson City Parks and Recreation Easy Walk: Carson River East Side - Meet at the first parking area on the right on Sierra Vista Ln off of Pinon Hills Drive (9am-10am; in case of wet weather, the walk will occur at the MAC building: 1870 Russell Way; Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the hike meeting site. All walks require closed-toed shoes and water. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks are recommended)
• Books and Brags at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada (9:30am-10:30am; included with admission)
