— Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Road in Carson City, in the south parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail at 9 a.m. The ride will normally consist of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each. Ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but will usually be about a 12-16 mph pace. This is a "no drop" ride so no one is left behind. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes. Contact Michael Bish at mrbish11@att.net or 775-291-2068, if you have questions.
— Flying Pig Indoor Flea Market, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Fuji Park off Old Clear Creek Road in Carson City across from Costco. The once-a-month market features many vendors with arts, collectibles, antiques, jewelry, knives, food and so much more. Admission is $1 for adults, and children under 18 are free. — Organic U-Pick Apples at The Apple Basket, 7425 Franktown Road in Washoe Valley, 1-5 p.m. Sunday until the apples are all gone. Four varieties of organic apples: Braeburn, Cameo, Gala, and Golden Delicious.
— Fifth annual Aviation Roundup at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. Tickets are $20 in advance for adults; children ages 12-17 are $15; and a family pass is available for $50. — Edible Art with Chef Pete, 1-4 p.m. at St. Mary's Art Center, 55 N. R Street in Virginia City. Join Executive Pastry Chef Pete Paulos for an intimate culinary class and learn the art of creating tiramisu and cannolis. This adult-oriented class is great fun and combines art, food and a historical setting. Advanced registration is required. Cost is $45 per student. — Carson City Elks Lodge Fall Tea, 1-3 p.m. at 515 N. Nevada Steet. Uniformed first-responders will be serving tea, food and holiday goodwill in preparation for Holiday with a Hero at Christmas time in December. Seating is limited.
— P'Opera! On Tap, presented by the Sierra Music Society, 5 p.m. at Napa-Sonoma, 7671 S. Virginia Street in Reno. Treat yourself, your friends, and your family to a delightful evening as "P’Opera!" fills the room with a vast selection of popular and well-known songs. There are two shows to choose from: 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. for $35 per person. Order your food and beverages separately from a delectable selection of items at Napa-Sonoma South to complete the dinner/theatre experience. — Donations Sought: Pet food drive underway at Carson City's Michael Hohl Motor Company. All day through October. Michael Hohl Motor Company of Carson City has launched its fourth annual ‘Give A Dog A Bone’ pet food drive to fill a pickup for the nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless. The national nonprofit organization based in Carson City provides pet food and basic emergency veterinary care to the homeless pets in local communities across the United States including the capital city. During the month of October bring your donations of dog and cat food to the Michael Hohl Motor Company GM showroom at 3700 S. Carson St. Carson City and help fill the truck. The donations will be delivered to FISH in North Carson City where over 230 local people are asking for pet food each month.
— Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space is currently seeking individuals and pairs interested in leading interpretive programs in one of our many parks and open spaces. Interested individuals and pairs are encouraged to apply. If interested, go here.
— Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program launch Winter Coat Drive. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program is hosting a winter coat drive Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, 2018. Please donate new or gently used, clean coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. Items will be distributed to families in need on Nov. 8, 2018 at 2310 South Carson St. Suite 1 Carson City or the Douglas County Washoe Tribe of NV & CA Native TANF Program office, 1248 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, Americana with Cadmium Orange, by artist Gig Depio at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Depio is an artist and an advocate for public art in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was awarded the 2016 Fellowship Grant in Painting by the Nevada Arts Council (NAC). He has worked on various exhibitions and projects with the Nevada Museum of Art, Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery, and UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, among others. — The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979-1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Nevada Artists Association opens Carson City Autumn art show. The Nevada Artists Association opened its annual "Autumn" exhibit will run through Oct. 19, 2018. More than 100 local and regional artists make up the non-profit NAA which operates the gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. In addition to the Autumn Show, two association members will be featured, with art work displayed on the coveted back wall of the gallery, artist Cindy Whitaker and photographer Fred Howland will be exhibiting their finest.
