Carson City organizations among 27 Nevada Humanities 2018-2019 grant recipients

Nevada Humanities is pleased to announce that 27 grants totaling over $104,500 were awarded to fund humanities programs across Nevada, including four in Carson City area.

Sierra Nevada Forums, a program through Partnership Carson City, Nevada Neighbors through the Capitol City Arts Initiative, year-round jazz events through Mile High Jazz Band Association, and the Nevada Attorney General Historical Project and Exhibition are among the 2018-2019 grant recipients representing the Carson City area.

Annually Nevada Humanities offers grants of up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations and government and tribal entities, such as libraries, museums, and schools, to fund public and educational programs in the humanities.

Major grant applicants requested and were awarded funds in a variety of amounts for projects that will take place across Nevada beginning July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019.

Nevada Humanities funds projects that encourage community engagement and conversation. This may take the form of face-to-face dialogue, such as lectures, forums, and round-table discussions, or through programs that stimulate thought and reflection, such as media productions, film screenings, exhibitions, local history projects, and projects that explore local culture and Nevada’s diverse heritage and unique places.

“Our 2018 grant recipients truly reflect Nevada’s diverse communities that will benefit from these exciting and relevant humanities programs, events, and exhibits,” said Christina Barr, Executive Director of Nevada Humanities. “Through these grants, humanities programs are meeting real needs in communities across Nevada.”
