The Safety Consultation and Training Section of the State of Nevada's Division of Industrial Relations and the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, a program offered by the Foundation for Recovery, are joining together to recognize the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Safe + Sound Week beginning Monday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 13.

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event designed to help workplaces improve worksite safety and health.

Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Sarah Adler, Principal at Silver State Government Relations. She will speak on behalf of the Nevada Housing Coalition, a group that works with legislators on policy solutions that address both the shortage of affordable and supportive housing and access to existing housing.

Affordable housing is defined by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development as “Housing for which the occupants are paying no more than 30% of his or her income for gross housing costs.”

A student housing revitalization project through Friends in Service Helping, that is currently taking shape on North Carson Street in Carson City, is extending a contribution campaign after successfully collecting $80,000 in matched donations.

AAUW Monthly Meeting
