Shroy runs 3,200 personal record time in Sacramento
The quad injury he nursed through the month of April was a distant memory when Richard Shroy ran at the 30th annual Sacramento Meet of Champions on Saturday night. Running his first big race since the Stanford Invitational on March 27, the Carson High senior logged a lifetime best time of 9 minutes, 22.07 seconds to place seventh in the invitational boys 3,200-meter race at Hughes Stadium in a meet that featured athletes from around California as well as Oregon and Northern Nevada. "It was a great race," said Jeanne Stelzer, who coaches Carson's distance runners. "The weather was absolutely perfect and he ran really well. He's finally getting through it (the injury), and at the right time.
