She had previously asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told her, "Heck, I have everything I want, let's go to the cabin with Jim and Kathi (our son and daughter-in-law) and have a quiet steak and lobster dinner up there."
The Quilici Cabin is located on a steep hillside between Portola and Davis Lake in Plumas County, California, and we like to go there as often as we can to enjoy the accommodations, scenery, wildlife and peace and quiet.
Hundreds of shoppers arrive at Carson Mall for Bealls department store grand opening
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 04/24/2014 - 1:33pmBealls opened Thursday morning at Carson Mall to great fanfare with hundreds of customers arriving early to shop at Carson City's newest department store.
Bealls store manager Kessn Flitton said customers filed into the 24,000-square-foot store for the grand opening ribbon cutting, taking advantage of bargains, sales, 25 percent off coupons, shopping sprees, gift card and merchandise giveaways.
At least 300 customers went through cashier lines within the first hour of opening, said Regional Manager Lewis Rael.
Proscenium Players 'Wedding from Hell!' extends Brewery Arts Center showings
Submitted by editor on Tue, 02/18/2014 - 1:47pmThe Carson City run of Proscenium Players, Inc., murder mystery production of “The Wedding from Hell!” is being extended for two additional weekends at the Brewery Arts Center as a murder mystery dessert buffet show.
Performance dates are Fridays, Feb. 21, and Feb. 28 and Saturdays, Feb. 22 and March 1 at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a Saturday, March 1 matinee performance at 2 p.m. This will be a fundraiser performance for the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center with all the proceeds going to the Senior Meals Programs. All performance will be held in the Maizie Harris Jesse Theater at the Brewery Arts Center located at 409 W. King Street, Carson City.

Murder mystery dinner theater returns to Carson City

Performance dates are Friday, Jan. 31, Feb. 1, 8, 14, and Saturday, February 1, 8, 15 at 6 p.m. and a Sunday Brunch matinee on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m.
Lake Tahoe ski resorts rejoice with first significant snow of the season

Anticipation for additional snowfall along with summer investments pays winter dividends at Tahoe South this season. Millions of capital expenditures at the three area ski resorts this year will complement revitalization efforts throughout town to create new options on where to stay, play and dine during the 2013-14 season.

1. To celebrate our 11th Wedding Anniversary (March 30).
2. To visit my cousin Lorraine Scholes and her husband Bob, who have a winter home in Indio.
3. To attend our first-ever "Palm Springs Follies" show in Palm Springs.
4. To fly from Indio to Big Bear (our first-ever visit there).

Star Anderson, General Manager of the Carson Nugget told the group; “The old, dated colors are gone and what you see now is a clean, modern facility that can serve a variety of needs from gatherings as small as 10 to as large as 400.” She added; “This type of facility is one that is very much needed in the Carson City area and we are happy to fill that need.”

The happy couple met September 2, 2002 in Richmond Virginia. They moved to Bill’s hometown Carson City Nevada back in November 2005. Bill and Angela were engaged for five years before tying the knot Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson reside at their home in Dayton Nevada. Reception will be held at thier home Saturday July 28, 2012
Travel to France at the Nevada State Museum

Museum research associate Mary Covington will talk at 6:00 pm about the history and significance of gifts sent from France to the United States aboard the 1949 Merci Train.
The exhibit includes 21 travel posters of French regions along with a wedding dress from Lyon, trench art, and personal treasures sent in gratitude to the U.S. for support following World War II.

Submitted by admin on Thu, 04/05/2012 - 7:24amElaine and I just returned home from a special way to celebrate a special occasion. March 30 was our 10th wedding anniversary and we had wanted to do something out of the ordinary for that event.
When we were married 10 years ago, we took a 19 day honeymoon in Southeast Asia, which included Hong Kong, China; Singapore, Malaysia; Bangkok, Thailand; and the last eight days at Bali, Indonesia.
Most interesting, we took my new mother-in-law, Mary Bottoms, with us!
I bet that very few of you took your mother-in-law on your honeymoon!
Auditions for "Steel Magnolias"

Steel Magnolias is a comedy–drama play about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. It is written by Robert Harling, based on his experience with the death of his sister. The title suggests the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but ...as tough as steel".
